Van Halen was one of the most prolific bands in the 80's. The original lead singer was David Lee Roth who brought a lot of pizazz and flamboyance to the group. Then you had Sammy Hagar who brought a more musical element to the group and is arguably a better singer. Here's a couple of clips to contrast the group with two lead singers.

Politics in Music part I-Sun City

In the 80's it was very common the see musicians to make songs that stood on a political views. One of the biggest movements was Artists against Apartheid. Most of the big name artists of this era collaborated and made a song called "Sun City" which what to protest doing performances at South Africa resort



It showed great unity amongst artists.

An Innovative Music Video

In this fine era I feel there was a was creative edge when it came to music videos. People were not spending a million dollars to make a video that had sets that were being used in multiple videos.This is one of my favorite videos made of all time. You can tell there that was a lot of thought put into it; and yet it was simplistic.
